Labor Studies 214 A-D: The Labor Heritage/Rockin' Solidarity Chorus

 Study of labor history and worker heritage through songs. The Labor Chorus is made up of the students in LABST 214 A-D.  The class meets on alternate Saturdays from 12:30-5pm.

Labst 214 is an elective in the Labor Studies certificate and AA degree programs at Laney College.

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES: Students who successfully complete this class will be able to:

1.   Identify and sing songs from working peoples' cultural heritage and demonstrate awareness of links between American cultural traditions and labor history.  

2.   Demonstrate knowledge of workers’ culture and history through presentation of songs, story or dance from various periods in American labor history and workers' struggles around the world.  

3.   Inform others of the student’s own concerns and struggles in the workplace through writing songs, stories or plays including musicals, traditional folk songs, the use of parody, or songs reflecting the cultural diversity of the working class.
