 | | LABST 012: Collective Bargaining |  | | | This class studies the structure, content, strategies and relationships between the parties engaged in collective bargaining. Includes simulations of employer / union bargaining for agreements in private and public sectors.
While usially offered in the Spring semerster each year, it might be offered to accommidate a special request when funding permits. It is required for the Labor Studies certificate or AA degree.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This is a practical "hands-on" class that requires regular attendance and participation as well as study. Students will form Labor and Management bargaining teams and conducts two rounds of simulated negotiations, one private sector and one public sector, one regular round and one that is in a concessionary environment.
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES: Students who successfully complete this class will be able to:
1. Apply collective bargaining theories from both management and labor perspectives;
2. Analyze and apply the principles of collective bargaining and labor law during negotiations; and
3. Utilize negotiation skills in labor and employer relations.
