Health & Safety Training

We offer two classes in Health & Safety training,

  • LABST 019 - 3 units as a semester long class
  • LABST 248* - 1 Unit for 3 Saturdays

Currently our Health & Safety Training is offered in partnership with the Labor Occupation Health Program (LOHP) at UC Berkeley' School of Public Health, and provides a WOSH Specialist certification when successfully completed. WOSH stands for Worker Occupational Safety & Health. The curriculum was developed under a funding grant from the California State Commission on Health and Safety and Workers' Compensation.  The class through Laney College Labor Studies is one of the delivery outlets open to the general public or employers who can only train a small number of WOSH Specialists.  Other workshops are taught by qualified WOSH Trainers directly in the workplace as part of joint union/management relations.

Both of these classes are electives in the Labor Studies certificate and AA degree programs.

.  *248 is proposed to change o course number 219.
