LABST 202: Union Organizing

 We have two classes in organizing at Laney College:

  • Labst 021 - Workplace Organizing, a semester long 3 unit class that meets once a week for 3 hours. This class offers a comprehensive survey of workplace and community organizing.
  • Labst 202 - Union Organizing, A short, 3 day long, Saturday 1 unit class.  This class focuses on the skills needed to organize a union at a workplace.

These classes are electives in the Labor Studies certificate and AA degree programs.

LABST 202 Union Organizing - 1 Unit

  • Meets 3 Saturdays Sept. 16, 23, and 30, 2006 from 9am-3:30pm in Room: A 120  on the Laney College campus (across from the Lake Merritt BART station).

 

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES: Students who successfully complete this class will be able to:

1.       Interpret and apply labor law during organizing campaigns;

2.       Plan a workplace organizing campaign; and  

3.       Analyze successful and unsuccessful organizing campaigns.
