LIBRARY INSTRUCTION

Orientations

Faculty should request an orientation for class assignments at the Information Desk, at least a week in advance of the preferred date.  Instructors must accompany and remain with the class during the orientation.  When requesting an orientation, faculty should bring a written copy of the assignment (or class syllabus) and title of the text.

Orientations are structured to meet specific information needs (facts, biographies, company/book reports, etc.), or demonstrate the research process for research essays and papers.  A typical 50 minute orientation consists of lecture, demonstration and hands-on practice.  Specific sources and types of sources are introduced to students.  A follow-up session may be scheduled, if needed.

For more information on scheduling an orientation, call (510) 464-3495.
