Orientations
Faculty should request an orientation for class assignments by filling out the online Library Orientation Request located on the FOR FACULTY page on the library website. Requests need to be submitted at least one week in advance of the preferred date. Instructors must accompany and remain with the class during the orientation. For more information on scheduling a Library orientation for your class, please see the Library Orientation Policy.
Orientations are structured to meet specific information needs (facts, biographies, company/book reports, etc.), or demonstrate the research process for research essays and papers. A typical 50 minute orientation consists of lecture, demonstration and hands-on practice. Specific sources and types of sources are introduced to students. A follow-up session may be scheduled, if needed.
For more information/questions on this process, email Ann Buchalter (abuchalter@peralta.edu) or call (510) 464-3495.
