| Laney College offers a Certificate of Achievement in Biomanufacturing. Biotechnology is a broad term that encompasses biomanufacturing. Biomanufacturing is a more specific term which refers to the production, isolation and purification of medicines made by pharmaceutical companies. |

The biomanufacturing program is designed to offer students entry into “career ladder” format. Career ladders are specially designed education and training opportunities to prepare workers to quickly enter the workforce with a living wage and then move up career ladders to jobs of increasing reward and stability. These programs are designed to provide a foundation in both academic and vocational education that allows workers to build careers of lifelong satisfaction.

| Pharmaceutical companies are interested in hiring people with 1 year degrees (certificates of achievement), 2 year degrees as well as people from the traditional 4 year college programs. |
